HI, I'M MONICA

“MacGyver for the Marginalized” — that’s what my friends and colleagues endearingly call me. I have a knack for creating pathways to success for the overlooked and underestimated.

Throughout my career, I have pioneered industry-leading programs at companies like Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, and Google to help marginalized groups gain breakthrough access to opportunities.

I serve on the National Board of the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA), the Latinas in Tech (LIT) Board, and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund— advancing education and growth for underrepresented communities.

MY STORY

As a young Latina growing up in a small West Texas town, most opportunities felt out of reach. But my curiosity and hunger to learn helped me go past my comfort zone.

I was the first in my family to graduate college with a Master's degree, leave our home state, and achieve significant professional success.

My journey taught me an important truth: drive and determination can only take you so far. Access to opportunities — and the ability to adapt and learn— are the real game-changers.

That's what inspired me to pioneer the Goldman Sachs New Directions® and the Returnship® program, helping women re-enter the workforce.

My story is about transformation — not just my own, but the kind I strive to inspire in others so they can define their own path to success.

MY PURPOSE

I am a consciousness creator on a mission to champion equity for all in life, work, and community.

My work is deeply personal. I know what it’s like to feel like an outsider, trying to navigate systems and spaces that weren’t designed for me.

While my cultural beliefs instilled values like humility, hard work, and community, they also fueled self-limiting beliefs that held me back. It took time, reflection, and intentional growth to overcome these challenges, and that journey shaped my passion for helping others.

I find immense joy in transferring knowledge because it’s about more than teaching — it’s about empowerment and unlocking human potential.

As a former radio show host, I know how to connect with people across all walks of life. As an opera singer, I can fill any void with melody. And as an aerial acrobat, I am always determined to find a way.
